World Theater Day

World Theater Day

I think about the body, its power and fragility, how each person inhabits it, its deterioration over time, and the limits that define it. Almost as if it were something foreign, I think about it, while living it. Sometimes it seems like a prison, and other times, the indispensable means to release everything I carry inside. Then, one day, theatre happens, that place where bodies light up and transform, where beings created by others desperately need our flesh to exist, just like we do. Perhaps we are only that: the creation of someone who needs our material to materialize. Sometimes I commit the felony of thinking conflicts from my daily life as if they were a scene, and then clarity and understanding come, the behaviors or actions that I should execute to resolve them in a better way are revealed to me. But above all, it forces me to see the other, to develop empathy, to understand what happens beyond myself. Today is World Theatre Day, and I want to celebrate that space that rescues our bodies and brings us closer to others.
