Taking Theater With Me

Taking Theater With Me

Ever since I started studying theater, I dreamed of seeing the world through acting.
I’m not quite sure where that fantasy came from. Maybe from the books I read, from stories about other actors and theater companies, or from everything I was learning at the Conservatory. I imagined myself traveling with productions, going on tour, discovering new places through theater.
And some of that did happen. The first time I went to Europe, I went with a theater company and a production. I also discovered different parts of Argentina that way.
What I never imagined was that one day life itself would take me to live in another country. And that I would then have to decide what to do with theater.
I could leave it behind, or I could try to find my place in this new destination. I chose the latter.
And so, almost without planning it, I started over. In another country, in another theater community, in another language. I began finding spaces, people, projects. Little by little, I started building a career here. I’m still building it. I’m still trying.
When I was that theater student, I dreamed of traveling the world through acting. It never occurred to me that one day the journey would be a different one: that I would take theater with me.
I suppose dreams go on their own tours, too.
